Day 7

Thursday Feb 20th

Happy birthday to me!! 42 today!! Born on a Sunday at 4.10am… (probably after partying Saturday night, me, not my mom, she was sick the entire pregnancy… And the torture didn’t end when I was born… I also rewarded her by not sleeping for 2 years… I only wanted to play, the whole day and night. That never changed!
On time again baby!!! And that is 5 straight days!!
9.25am cake in process.
Today is partially cloudy (or if you want the half full glass version, partially sunny πŸ™‚ ). I’m still smiling, thank you Licor 43!!!
Plans for the day: Get Turkish bread. Prepare hummus. Prepare one more dip for dinner. Wear a dress because my daughter said: “it’s your birthday, you have to look nicer, you HAVE to wear a dress”. And let’s throw in high heels too!!
Get this, the cat is convinced that my birthday is tomorrow… I haven’t corrected him, I’m not sure why, I don’t care.
I have to find a way to filter the phone calls… So far, all UNKNOWN calls won’t be answered. And the not desired calls will be filtered by my kids or if I have no choice, they’ll be short. Not that I get many calls since I live here, but I know I’ll get 2 that I really wish I could avoid. I’ll train my kids this afternoon so they know what they have to say when they get “the signal” (Let’s keep blaming my friend 43 for this πŸ™‚ ).
I owe you the red peppers… I’m going to post the pictures below… No caption this time because when I published the pictures of the eggplants yesterday, they looked funny and not aligned, and the text looks awful on the right and I was swearing and after 20 attempts I didn’t get it right and I left it looking terrible as it is…
So, here comes some explanation.
Wash the peppers and put them in the oven (or the grill if you are a fan of it). When you are about to do this, try to give the peppers ALL your attention. Why am I saying this?? Something happened to me yesterday. And obviously I chose that over the peppers. Long story. Let’s blame Juan and Irvin for this, and continue πŸ™‚ My peppers stayed way too long in the oven and that’s why they look as if they have been Photoshopped or as if they’ve joined Tan Mom on one of her tanning sessions. Anyway, if your peppers look like mine, they’ll taste a bit smoky but still delicious and they won’t be hot red as the ones you see at the store.
When they are out of the oven and still very hot, wrap them in newspaper (I didn’t have any newspaper… and I promise, the digital version doesn’t work :), so I put them in a Tupperware.) Wait until they are cold. Peel them and remove all the seeds. They’ll break in your hands as you do it, don’t worry. When you are done, mix the peppers with oil and pressed garlic (I used 2 cloves but you can use as many as you like if you are not planning on dating Dracula). Oh, add a bit of salt if you want… And voilΓ !
Mine are in a jar, standing next to the eggplants in the fridge… I’ll make a picture of those beauties too πŸ™‚
I must go to my cake… I’ll be back later today and if I get the time, I’ll write about “The importance of a goodnight kiss”.

Oh no! I’ve written a lot more and apparently I forgot to update the page and now it’s all gone.
Anyway, this is my birthday cake. Cinnamon Rolls cake! I love cinnamon, I could spread it on my pillow.
I finally opened my cider!! I had it in the fridge since September but never got the right excuse to drink it… I managed to open it at 11.52pm!
I filtered the phone calls like a pro… And I got some surprise calls and emails that just made my day πŸ™‚
