374 days to go

July 29th ā€“ 1 year and 09 days from today

9.00am Not so late today. I slept terribly again and this morning, the noise of a building under construction next door, woke me. The hammering was right inside my ear.
Plans for the day: Try to read all the posts of the blogs I follow that I missed these pass four days. It’s incredible that I didn’t have the time to do it, specially because I’m truly not doing much here.
Also, we are going to my parents factory. I’ll take the laptop with me.
The birthday party yesterday was very nice. It was good to see my family.

After going to the park last Friday, we went to Chinatown. It’s only 3 blocks away, but for some reason in my head the place was somewhere else, so we started walking in another direction until I decided to ask where it was because some things didn’t look right.
After a while, we saw the unmistakable red lanterns…

I’ll take a break now to have breakfast before my mom declares that breakfast time is over. I’ll be back soon.
10.39am I can’t believe how fast time goes. I’m supposed to walk to the factory now, everyone else left. But I want to finish writing!

I don’t remember seeing that portal before. Chinatown is relatively new. It wasn’t there when I left. I visit it every time I come here. I’m not sure why I like it but I do.

My plan was to get some veggies so we went in a supermarket. I didn’t find what I was looking for.
I loved the tea aisle. I was tempted to get some tea and then I overheard two women talking, one saying: “How many teas” and the other one: “I’m not getting any until I finish the ones I have at home”. Both women read my mind… I have A LOT of teas at home. I had many and in December when my friend moved back to her country, I got from her a full box filled with all kinds of teas and herbal infusions.

I also loved the sushi fridge. I had never seen the sushi rolls like that. I was used to see the trays with all the sushi perfectly laid and looking beautiful.

After that, we went to almost all the stores to get some souvenirs. I bought chopsticks. I always wanted to have nice ones (and use them). I got metallic ones for the kids and wooden ones for me. All different.
I also got a cup with tiny blue flowers to drink jasmine tea. I have a bag full at home. I love the smell of it.

All the stores had a sign like this one.

It says: “Who breaks, pays”. It made me laugh every time.

My kids couldn’t believe that you could buy ninja stars and nunchakus (nunchucks). One of them wanted one really bad and my other son reminded him: “You can’t take them on the plane, remember the sign???” There was a funny sign at the airport with the forbidden items and nunchucks where there too.

After a while, my kids started complaining that they were hungry, so we left.

I have no idea who that boy was, but he was shouting: “Mom, hurry up with the picture, I’m going to fall”, while his mom was texting and saying: “I’m preparing the camera, hold on a bit longer”.
