372 days to go

372

July 31st – 1 year and 07 days from today

12.04pm Late today. I’m home alone. My mom left with all the kids and I was supposed to join them soon. But I’m still here. My plan was to choose the seats for the flight but for some reason, I couldn’t do it. So I tried calling but I couldn’t get through. I’m restless now. This sucks.
Yesterday the same. Two hours and a half to find out how to get the internet connection. Once I found what I needed, I filled in all the info and found out that I couldn’t get the service without filling the field of the phone number. I was about to ask a friend if I could use her number. Then I discovered I didn’t have enough money on my account, so I called the man to say: “Please add some money on my account. I have to pay the modem and the first month of service and there is not enough money. Meanwhile, I have to see if I can use Inga’s phone number because I can’t go further with the purchase without a phone number”. “You can use my German number” “Thanks, good idea”. A few years ago, we got a German mobile number. We used to go grocery shopping or take the kids to different parks in Germany (only 5 miles away from our house), that way we could also have mobile internet there. I knew about that number but I decided NOT to ask him to use it, but since he offered, I thought, “what the hell, I can solve this now if I swallow my pride just this time”. So I did. And three minutes later I could press on “Buy Now”. I got a confirmation email. I asked the connection to be on August 19th. That means that after going to the doctor the 18th, I’ll go AND stay in the new house so I’ll be there to open the door to the guy who’s going to connect me to the world. I’m not sure how that will work out. And I don’t care if I have to camp in the backyard or sleep on the floor, but the 19th, I’ll be there.

A couple of days ago, I told my uncle about my situation and the funny story about the man deciding not to order a new keyboard for the laptop I use back at home because then the kids could break it again but he offered instead to buy me a new laptop (yes, I’m still trying to see the logic there… creepy man trying to control me). I said to my uncle: “I rather go and use the computers in a library than accepting anything from him. I don’t want to be in debt with him” “Well done girl! I have one of this at home laying around, I’ll get it for you” while opening a drawer and showing me an MacBook Air. I said: “Are you insane?” “You know I do what I want” “I know, it runs in the family”. So, I got a laptop from my uncle! (I’m her favorite niece and over the years, he paid for all kind of things for me, from flight tickets to computers, holidays and presents for my kids). He’s an amazing man. Only 9 years older than me and like the older brother I never had.

Sorry, no pictures today. I better dress up (still in my nightgown), and go to the rescue.
My mom calls me Miss Computer because it seems that I spend a lot of time writing and playing on my iPod :). She asked me today if I had developed calluses on my fingers… I’m still laughing. (And no, I didn’t, they are used to it). 1.11pm Oh my!!! She’ll be mad!! πŸ™‚

      • I decided to “clean” the laptop… It’ll take 21 hours to download and install something…no idea what, my son is doing it for me. Looking forward to start using the help :). Thanks for the tip!
