352 days to go

August 20th – 352 days from today

8.15 Having breakfast alone in the gelid kitchen. It’s COLD (9C/48F). Sad summer.
I hate admitting this but I need a man. For many reasons. Some of them is because I can’t even turn a screw, or remove a lamp. Or put some nails on the walls. Or carry the buckets of paint (in one of my “exploring the nearby stores” yesterday, I discovered I can buy the paint in this town!!). I will not continue writing the other reasons just yet. I might soon, it depends how desperate I get.
So, the move is going SLOW. All my kids are here and not really helping me (or not as much as I would like them to).
Yesterday I bought wood paint and I started painting the interiors of the kitchen cabinets. Everything is so dark that it makes me sad.

I’m doing something wrong for sure because the result is not what I expected. I have to give another layer paint but the environment is so wet that the first layer is not dry yet. After posting this I’ll visit some YouTube friends to see if I get tips on how to paint kitchen cabinets and be happy with the result.

I promised a picture of the storage room. Now you can see why “find a bra” is a challenge.

While the stupid paint was drying (still is), we started removing the wall paper of my bedroom. Five freaking layers of wall paper!! The house was build in 1986 but at some point, some of the walls got mold. Now it’s all fixed and dried but to clean that small piece and paint the room again, I needed to take the wall paper off. Thank goodness it’s only one wall in each room (3) and maybe in one of the rooms I don’t need to remove it.
That’s how it looks like.

And these are my youngest kids helping. I bought 4 extra putty knives (?) with the hope of getting get some help.

I’m not lifting my heavy ass yet. I’ll finish my tea, enjoy the silence, and try to get the curtain (?) for the bathroom upstairs ready as soon as possible because some neighbors can see us.
Today the owner of the house is bringing the sand to fill the pond. I’ll be weeping.

  1. I got confused and didn’t see any posts past July, then I discovered August on the side. I have lots of catch up to do. I feel your pain. I always volunteer to take a beating instead of work on remodeling the house. A little at a time will get you there eventually. 🙂

  2. Paint primer…a wonderful discovery. I think I learned it all the hard way too…a decent drill is a fab tool to have (I miss my drill). Good luck with your projects!

    • Thank you for the tip! I’ll see if I can find paint primer here, I hope so!
I don’t have a drill yet! (and so much to do!! How are you doing there?)

      • I am missing my tools as I set up house. I am borrowing from my parents to do little things. Still no pictures on the walls (need hammer and hangers). Finally bought a screwdriver. No worries though-I’ll be here a while.

      • I have 4 screwdrivers and 5 putty knives. I just got a saw. That’s it. Now I need a strong arm to do what’s needed 🙂
