Friday. Cold and sunny but not freezing yet, perfect. Every week I wait for this day to come. No exception.
This weekend the kids will stay here with me, I won’t be able to do much. They have plans that involve baking. That means I’ll be eating too much cake. I still didn’t finish reading the instructions manual of the pressure cooker. I really need to get some things done and catch up reading. I’m very slow and it seems I can’t focus (in anything).
I took a picture of my browser, over 30 tabs opened. Those are the posts I have to read (until yesterday 8.00pm). Many more appeared there before I went to bed and even more were waiting for me this morning.
All my house looks like that. Everything is piling up. My kids promised to help me. There is still one wall with wallpaper and no lamps in the bedrooms. That will change soon because I’m having an End of the Year High Tea Party with the moms from the other school. Sixteen ladies confirmed. So by December 8th the house should be ready. We don’t have much time.
I want to thank all of you who wrote a comment on yesterday’s post. Your kind words made me smile and reminded me that there are still a few good men out there.
Some of the comments came via e-mail or Words With Friends.
I want to share this one from Aa (thank you!!).
While I was in the shower last night, I couldn’t help thinking. Karma. I should be really careful on what I say from now on. Once I laughed at the Swedish guys and next day Karma bit me in my ears. And then it struck me. Now I know why I keep meeting jerks. It’s because of my comments back in the 90’s.
I have a cousin, Ari and a friend Vero. They were famous for picking always the wrong guy. The kind of guy that the family didn’t like a bit. The lazy, the addict, the plain ass, the cheater, the “knows it all” and so on and so forth.
My comment back then was: “Let’s go out with Ari or Vero so we’ll be sure they’ll be the ones picking the jerk”. It was a joke, and we laugh about it for a long time. Even they agreed that was always the case.
One day, my cousin Ari found a nice man. It wasn’t the case with Vero. She’s the kind of woman who can’t stand being alone. She openly admitted that she preferred to be with the wrong man than alone. Her choice.
So while the warm water run through my body, I was trying to recall how many times I could have said those comments, so that way I could know more or less how many more jerks I still have to meet. Just to balance.
I have to say that apart from the four jerks I talked about these past days (rude comment guy, Facebook guy, getting married guy and the man), there were a few more. Stories will come soon.
Maybe if I openly admit that I was wrong saying that about my friend and cousin, Karma will finally make peace with me and my luck will change. Here I go: I WAS WRONG and I’ll never make a joke about it again (and I know it’ll be hard because joking it’s in my nature and I can’t help myself from being me).
And because today is Friday and at some point I’ll be in LOVE, here is a song for you. (Sorry! My musical knowledge is below basic, I couldn’t think of anything else. Yesterday I read the lyrics for the first time (because if I listen to the song I get 5 of the 80 words and if I try to sing it, I’d probably sound like THIS (and please take the time to watch this video, it’s short and it’ll make you smile (at least). She got balls and I admire her. It’s true, it’s not like I’m afraid of Karma).
Karma Chameleon
(written by: Philip Stuart Pickett, Culture Club)
There’s a loving in your eyes all the way
If I listen to your lies would you say
I’m a man without conviction
I’m a man who doesn’t know
How to sell a contradiction
You come and go, you come and go
Karma karma karma karma, karma chameleon
You come and go, you come and go
Loving would be easy if your colors were like my dream
Red gold and green, red gold and green
Didn’t hear your wicked words everyday
And you used to be so sweet, I heard you say
That my love was an addiction
When we cling our love is strong
When you go you’re gone forever
You string along, you string along
Karma karma karma karma, karma chameleon
You come and go, you come and go
Loving would be easy if your colors were like my dream
Red gold and green, red gold and green
Every day is like survival
You’re my lover, not my rival
Every day is like survival
You’re my lover, not my rival
I’m a man without conviction
I’m a man who doesn’t know
How to sell a contradiction
You come and go, you come and go
Karma karma karma karma, karma chameleon
You come and go, you come and go
Loving would be easy if your colors were like my dream
Red gold and green, red gold and green
Karma karma karma karma, karma chameleon
You come and go, you come and go
Loving would be easy if your colors were like my dream
Red gold and green, red gold and green
Karma karma karma karma, karma chameleon
You come and go, you come and go
Loving would be easy if your colors were like my dream
Red gold and green, red gold and green
Karma karma karma karma, karma chameleon
Have the perfect Friday and if it’s the time for Karma to come, let it be the GOOD one.

(Right now, the mess here goes beyond the sense of sight… You can feel it (or walk on it) and if I don’t act soon, you could smell it 😀

Now that you have rebalanced your karma, you “Ken Lee” without Jerks from now on. Loved the video. I admire people that try. They don’t have to be right, they just have to try. That is better than a couch potato with a yearning to fly.

Waiting on Karma Twin P
Remember you pick your bad words, when it comes to family. It can bite you in the but. I’m with those leaving comments, ignore the immature losers who walk thru life with a negative attitude.
On the subject of post to read, you can’t read them all every week. Neither can anyone. Don’t put the extra pressure on yourself. You already do, like inviting the mothers to you house!!!!! I know you’ve lived this way all your life, time to stop putting pressure on self. All that pressure takes away from feeling good and can add to wrinkles.
Take it easy, let it go, enjoy life, the birds, the kids and building a life for you. Which includes resting.
Listen to your older Twin sister! I have some experience with crazinesses. I luckily left it behind. Now I can enjoy my Twin sister and a slower life without tons of stress.
Have a great weekend.

Hi Twin M,
So sorry I’m late replying. I’m getting crazy these days with the kids here.
I need to catch up reading (at least some) or I won’t forgive myself (I know how it is!).
I Listen to my older Twin 🙂
Hugs.

Getting Wiser Twin P
Yes listening to your older twin is a great idea. You have a family to put before a blog or reading post. You need to destress. Give up what is not most important. I’m learning myself and know it’s hard. Your kids will only be this age once and before you know there grown. Don’t miss a minute enjoying and pulling your hair out over. I know your work ethic and commitment to your blog. One of the many things I love about you. What I love more is your a single mom raising five kids with little support. You have taken a house in shambles and made it a welcoming and loving home for you and the kids. It must be crazy with that level of action, needs, voices, cries and cooking. I know you talk about how it drives you crazy but I know in your heart you don’t say it in a mean way. Just from the two photos I have it’s easy to see how much your kids love each other and you. I love your blog but I love you as a mother more. Keep the most important at the top of list everyday. We never know what tomorrow will bring and we want to know we savored every once. I savor every once we spend together so if either one of us joins the big party in the sky I can smile and know I enjoyed every moment with you. 🙂

Good Karma Loving Twin P
Are you say I’m right that I’m super bossy or right about living life? I know what your saying, just had to give you a hard time. If your turkey legs are frozen, put in fridge tonight or you will get a surprise. How could I forget you are vegan. If you’re not good at roasting, I’m not, you could cook early and take turkey off bone and make a salad or casserole. Turkeys are hard for me, they are so dry when I try. David is smoking ours and they are great smoked. They taste so different. We’re having backed sweet potatoes I love them. I’ll email later since you should be getting ready to bed or enjoying wine under the stars. While he watches football I plan to shop.

You are both Twin!! (and I’m glad you are!) 🙂
Yes, the legs are frozen. I’ll be making some room in the fridge and looking for one pot recipes soon. I have 0 experience with turkey, so it’ll be a blind date. On the bright side, I don’t have to eat it and my kids eat whatever I put on their plates 🙂

I hope your Karma was favorable! I love that you put those song lyrics here. I still own that album…and I admit to a blue t-shirt that has a bright green chameleon on it preceded by three big green commas. All in good fun.

My Karma is still not as good as I wish… 🙂
I love the t-shirt! Does it match your cape? 😀
You can find the lyrics on Fridays and only if I feel it’s “Friday I’m in Love”. 🙂
