160

160th_soar_2_mug

Mug shot Tuesday. I found a mug with a 160 on it and decided to use it. Night Stalker. What’s that? Someone who stalks the night or someone who likes to stalk at night? Never mind, I could be both.
My daughter woke up not feeling well so I didn’t take her or Cutie to kindergarten. All my kids are here because the oldest didn’t have lessons. I stayed in bed till very late.
I’ll catch up soon reading your blogs. I’m sorry I haven’t done it yet. So much to do. So little time. And no will at all.

Today is the man’s 40th birthday.
A couple of days ago I asked him if he wanted to swap days so he could be with the kids on his birthday even though Tuesdays are usually my days with them. He mentioned that maybe his girlfriend had made plans to spend the day with him and that it could be that he was going to bring his girlfriend here.
“No, I’m sorry, I’m not ready for that”
“Why not?”
“I don’t know, I’d prefer to meet her in neutral ground and not in my house”
“Ok, we could all go and have dinner somewhere”
WTF??!
The next day he said his girlfriend was going to the gym and that he was going to come alone. Perfect.
“In that case, I’ll prepare dinner for you and that will be my present. Any preferences?”
“Lasagna”

OK. So yesterday I went to the store to get the ingredients to prepare the lasagna. I know that my supermarket doesn’t have ricotta cheese. I could just cross the street and go to the other supermarket and get it, but I just decided I wasn’t going to use ricotta this time.
I got the stuff and went back home. Later in the afternoon I started preparing the tomato sauce and cooking the meat.
Then it was time to lay the lasagna pasta things. I learned my lesson some years ago and since then, I always butter the oven pans first otherwise after cooking it gets stuck and breaks when I try to serve it.
I went to the cabinet and discovered that I didn’t have any more disposable lasagna pans, only the round ones.

Dilemma. “What now?… Round disposable pans or washing the normal pans?”
That actually took me the millionth part of a second to decide. Freaking round disposable pans!! There is no way I wash by hand (or load any extra stuff in the dishwasher if that could be avoided).

So with a huge smile I proceeded buttering the pans, adding some tomato sauce, a layer of pasta, the meat, and just as I was going to add the next layer, I realized I had forgotten the ham.
“PLEASE!! Could someone go really quick to the supermarket and get some ham?”
My sweet 2nd son decided to go.

I continued putting another layer of pasta and “WTF!! they are not enough!!” And my boy had already left and I didn’t want to wait and ask him to go again and get me more lasagna blades.
So I decided that I was going to make a lasagna that was more going to look like a pasta sandwich.
Mostly my lasagnas have a layer of meat, a layer of ricotta and a layer of ham and cheese. This lasagna was going to have only 2 layers, meat and ham and cheese. But then I discovered I didn’t have enough blades so I put the meat, the ham and the cheese all together and then the final layer of pasta.
“Never mind… The taste will be fine and I’ll make white sauce and cover it completely so nobody can notice”. But guess what? I didn’t have enough milk!!!
I couldn’t believe it.
OK, less white sauce then!

So I made 2 round sandwich pasta things that don’t have layers.
After I finished, I tried to reshape the round pans into looking a bit square. I didn’t dare to take a picture, please understand. But I may do it later…

While I was in bed last night I remembered my psychology class at school. The subject was ‘The Subconscious’ (In psychology, the subconscious is the part of consciousness that is not currently in focal awareness.)
We had to give an example and for some reason I remembered what I said over 25 years ago.
“It’s like when we have to bake a cake for someone and we don’t care about that person much so somehow we burn the cake”.
I bursted laughing. “THE CAKE!!” I still have to make one. Actually, I’m making it right now. And of course it’s going to be an alternative recipe because I didn’t have any more milk and no plans to go and get it.
My idea is to make a cinnamon roll cake like I did for my birthday last year. And yes, if you are old to my blog you probably remember that the man doesn’t like cinnamon (that’s why I got the cinnamon scented candles and put them between my underwear).
But I saw him eating my cinnamon rolls many times (that sounded dirtier than intended) and I’m craving cinnamon today, so cinnamon roll cake it is!

I’m going to stay by the oven while I’m baking it. I hope nothing bad happens. I already had to change the ingredients and forgot to wait for the water to cool down so probably the yeast won’t grow because I killed it with the boiling water…

The Subconscious… I’m so busted!!

  4. Yes, before I even got to the end of this one, I was thinking, ‘See, she should have never decided to cook for the man. He doesn’t deserve it so this is what happens!!’

  6. I really enjoyed reading this post! Mmm, cinnamon roll cake – I don’t think I’ve ever had that before. How come you put meat in the lasagne? Did you make an extra one for yourself with no meat?

  8. Geesh wanting to bring the girlfriend over last minute – nooooo that needs to be planned out in advance and also be in a less intimate setting.
