Monday. Another sunny and very cold day. I’m still having a great time. Last night I asked my mom if she wanted to watch a movie. I spend about half an hour looking for a movie in Spanish. I finally found one with good ratings.
The movie started with a couple having a bit of wild sex. If you knew my mom, you would know that there are a few kind of movies that my mom doesn’t like at all.
The list more or less involves: No blood, no horror, no sex.
Before my parents met, one of my aunts used to take my mom to the movies. My mom cursed the movies and my aunt for months. She had to watch movies like “The Rosemary’s Baby” and all the Hitchcock movies.
Later, she and my dad used to go every Monday to the movies until my dad committed the mistake of choosing the wrong movie two weeks in a row. The movies she had to watch with my dad were like “The Silence of the Lambs”. In 1992 my mom said to my dad: “That was the last time I go to the cinema with you”.
And now that she thought she wouldn’t have to watch any movie she didn’t like, it’s my turn to torture her.
The freaking movie yesterday had really bad language and sex every 2 minutes. At one point she said: “This is the last movie you choose until I leave”. We know that I will keep on choosing the movies anyway, but I better read what the movies are about before pressing the PLAY button.

I’ll answer the 11 questions that Jamila asked and I’ll try to find 11 random facts about myself.

-What music do you like?
I really don’t have a kind of music I like particularly. Today I feel like listening instrumental. For example: Jean Michel Jarre “London Kid”, one of my favorites from the “Revolutions” album.

-Do you believe in ghosts, extra terrestrials, Nessie, fae, trolls, vampires, shape-shifters or anything that people commonly regard as being “Supernatural”? Please excuse my poor use of terminology!
I do believe in ghosts but not in all the rest. Although I still hope some gnomes come to my house when I’m sleeping and clean it so I find it spotless in the morning. (My mom is doing the gnomes’ job right now).

-What are the things you are interested in and love doing or talking about?
I love writing and doing crafts. I love the sea. And I love talking about everything except religion and politics. There is no right or wrong there, so it’s useless to discuss it.

-What qualities do you most despise in others?
Falsehood really gets to my nerves.

-What is something other people don’t like about you?
My honesty. And I think that’s supposed to be one of my virtues. But ok, some feel bad because I can openly admit some of my faults and laugh about them.

-List five reasons why I’m epic? Just kidding. Real question: What is your earliest memory?
You are epic for many reasons Jamila!! Many more than five!
My earliest memory is tetrahedron package of milk from where I was about 2 years old and maybe the last time I drank milk. My mom doesn’t remember it and now I’m doubting it even existed!! I’ll have to ask some more people about it.

-How long have you been on this planet for?
Almost 43 years.

-What are some things that make you different from other people?
Difficult question!
I’m a dreamer and unluckily there are not many left.
I can be happy with very little.
I never tried drugs, not even once. (I’m not counting the ones I received while delivering my 2nd son. They sedated me because I was screaming. I only wanted a pain killer. I delivered my son while high and in a state of pain that I never ever ever had in my entire life before or after.

-When you die, what would you like to be remembered for?
My sense of humor.

-What is something that you don’t like about yourself, or that you are embarrassed about?
I don’t like many things about myself but I wouldn’t say I’m embarrassed. Probably I’m a bit embarrassed about the stretch marks in my belly but I can always cover them.

-What assumptions are you tired of people making about you?
Again, I’m mistaken for many things just because I’m honest. Yes, I’m a bit lazy, yes I can relax too much sometimes. But I’m not careless and I don’t pretend to be something I’m not.

Now 11 facts about myself.

1- I was born on the same day Kurt Cobain was born but 5 years later. (February 20th).
2- I learned to ride a bike when I was 8 years old. Nobody wanted to teach me so I took the bike, went up a hill and let myself go.
3- I learned swimming by myself too. I said to my dad who was in the swimming pool: “Only rescue me if I’m drowning” and I jumped in.
4- I’m seven years, seven months and seven days older than my brother.
5- And of course 7 is my favorite number.
6- If I play roulette (and that’s VERY seldom unless I play on my online casino, which is seldom too), I always play the same numbers: 17, 20, 28 and 31. I recently added the number 22 to honor a good friend. All those numbers are black.
7- If I don’t color my hair, I’d be grey (85%).
8- My mom wanted to name me Carla but she changed her mind last minute. I’m really thankful about it, even tho I don’t like my name either.
9- Many years ago I kissed one guy who now is very famous in my country (and I can say I’m really embarrassed about it). And you’ll have to make me drunk and drug me to tell you whom he is.
10- My favorite animal is the wolf.
11- If I don’t lift my heavy ass and get dress now, I’ll be late picking my kids from school.
