Yay! Yay! Friday!! Only 2ºC/36ºF when I woke up this morning but the sun is shining and it’s supposed to get warm, like short sleeves warm. And that will last till tomorrow and then we’ll get many, many, many days of rain.
And I have a dilemma, should I use this sunny day to mow my lawn? Or just have a cup of tea watching the birds fly? I know that if I don’t mow now, after a week of rain my machine won’t make it through the grass and I’ll end up cutting every grass blade with scissors. I still have 40 minutes to decide.

As much as I love Fridays, I dread weekends. And this weekend I’ll be alone. That means that I’ll have a lot of time to think and let my thoughts torment my brain… I know I sound very rational and that it seems I know clearly what’s going to happen. And that’s true. Also you could think that I could control that and be fine… But you are wrong there. The truth is, I can’t control it. I fall down. I see everything black, or very dark gray.
So in order to counteract the effect of the weekend, I went to the supermarket. And I got a few bottles of alcohol.
From left to right:
German sweet red wine. White beer. Cider. Vodka. Hungarian sweet white wine. Macedonian Sweet rosé wine. Beer .

But please, don’t think I’ll drink all of it. I got so many because I finally made the wine rack to go on that ugly free spot on top of my fridge. I hated that empty space (which by the way, it was never empty because you know what happens when there is a free spot, I fill it with crap). So now, I’m using that spot to store my “Weekend’s Lifters” (That I should probably call only “Lifters”).

And since one of my hobbies is to reuse-recycle-revamp and I LOVE creating things out of trash, I made this wine rack out of cans and using 4 glue gun bullets. (Because I didn’t have the needed super glue and some times, I want the things NOW). So, for a few days, we ate a lot of tomato sauce, green beans, peaches and pineapples.

And that’s my baby in action. (And if I turn it around, it can hold 12 bottles!!).

You probably counted 7 bottles above and only 5 on the rack. That’s because I put the vodka in the freezer and one of the beers in my stomach.

And IT’S FRIDAY, I’M IN LOVE!! I planned on posting another song but I changed my mind in the last minute. I want to dedicate this song to everyone who is or feels trapped. Trapped in a bad place, in a situation, in a thought or even in a feeling. But specially, I want to dedicate it to my friend Sonia ( http://ramblingsofnekaaar.wordpress.com ), who’s a bit lost (or trapped) in a place where she doesn’t feel like herself. And of course, to My Prince.

Ladies and Gentleman, enjoy Queen!!

I want to break free
(written by John Deacon)

I want to break free
I want to break free
I want to break free from your lies
You’re so self satisfied, I don’t need you
I’ve got to break free
God knows, God knows I want to break free

I’ve fallen in love
I’ve fallen in love for the first time
And this time I know it’s for real
I’ve fallen in love yea
God knows, God knows I’ve fallen in love

It’s strange but it’s true, hey yea
I can’t get over the way you love me like you do
But I have to be sure
When I walk out that door

Oh how I want to be free baby
Oh how I want to be free
Oh how I want to break free

But life still goes on
I can’t get used to livin’ without livin’ without
Livin’ without you by my side
I don’t want to live alone, hey
God knows, got to make it on my own

So baby can’t you see
I’ve got to break free
I’ve got to break free
I want to break free, yea

I want, I want, I want
I want to break free .

Have the loveliest Friday!!
While I mow my lawn…

  2. It is alone time and YOU, time!!!! I love the wine rack and your idea is stacking them horizontally. Very art-deco-ish. I may try it myself.

Enjoy your weekend, you deserve the silence. Ehhh?

  3. I love how you re-create the wine holder yourself. It looks very lovely and very environmental-friendly 😉 Very well done dear! I hope your “Weekend’s Lifters” is able to uplift your mood well! Happy weekend dear! ❤

  4. I get the same mow problem every now and then (it is raining now – my lawn is cut short, in a week’s time it will be tall again) – love the rack, is it stable using just that superglue? Some wine, mostly the red one, should be kept horizontally, so that’s a great solution. That cider seems very weekend-lifter by the way! 😀

    • I love cider and I can’t always find it here, so every time I see one, I buy it 🙂
Here it’s still quite cold so I guess I can push the mowing for 3 weeks :). But I have a front yard and a back yard but the energy to do only one at the time… So I guess I’ll be mowing every week too!!
It’s also raining here, and it’ll keep raining for days. It truly sucks.
I don’t know where to get superglue, so I used the glue gun. I put quite a lot of it, like if I were welding and it holds well, even the big bottles!
      Have a nice day 🙂

  5. I love mowing the lawn, but it’s still a bit cold here. Nice job with the rack. I have to be careful commenting about racks. But I do love it! 😀

  6. Short sleeves warm! Then why must we be digging our winter coats back out?

    • The winter coats are still being used… We had an afternoon of short sleeves weather and that was pretty much it. Spring is always late here. Like half May most of the times… It sucks! 🙂

  7. Yes, weekends are weird. Sometimes without that discipline the weekday gives us, we are left to our own devices and who knows where that will lead us? Anyway, hope you have a great weekend in spite of it all. Love, love your wine rack!

my feet are swollen today so I have a real treat for you! I’m wearing cowboy boots. I send from iPad. pick yourself up and plan a nice weekend. enjoy your long bath, maybe try a new candle. Spend time reflecting on the wonderful holiday in Spain . send out so photos if you need. once you’re relaxed, drunk put your belly dancing outfit and rent a Bollywood movie and practice your skills as you polish off the booze. sleep in spend time day dreaming then when you start drinking time to dream about your bucket list. surprise yourself and have a wonderful Paola weekend. Listen to your older twin who is wearing pajamas wearing cowboy boots.

    • I saw the pic Twin!! Nice 🙂 You seemed relaxed!
I’m trying to keep myself busy, as soon as I have an idle moment, I think… And I really can’t afford that right now 🙂
And the candles are burning 😀

  10. Nice wine rack Paola. Now, I hope you don’t have an earthquake and have the bottles come flying out at you. Haha, always sending cheerful thoughts! 😀

  11. Oh P! Now that you blogged about wine racks, Google is going to bring you all the people searching for butt cracks. But, at least you will have 10,000 followers. I’m sorry you are seeing in black and gray. For me that is a good time for vodka and a good movie. Think happy thoughts and get your mood lift on. 🙂
