Sunday. I’m truly disappointed. Pissed off. Fuming. Is there ONE meaning of friendship or there are more? Could it be that what friendship means to me, it’s not the same for other people? Would you call someone a friend when you don’t consider them one?
Let’s see… what does friendship mean?
Writing about it it’s much harder than what I expected. I’m not sure if it’s because of all the emotions I feel right now or if it’s a difficult subject.
I feel so overwhelmed. I can only think of: “A real friend wouldn’t say something like that” “A true friend would stand by my side” “A good friend would respect my wishes”. Because I know how I feel about my friends I can’t even process some things done in the name of friendship.
A friendship is a relationship. It goes both ways, you give and you receive. It’s a perfect balance.
But what happens when only one of the “friends” gives and the other friend only receives? Is that also considered friendship?
And if the friend who always gives gets tired of giving and the friend who always receives gets mad because he’s not receiving as much as he was used to, what’s the name for that? I doubt that’s called friendship.
A real friend would be happy if I’m happy. A real friend would stand by me, laugh with me, give me a hand if I fall, trust me, be my tissue if I need to cry, lend me a shoulder to lean on, hug me without me asking and never be mad at me for saying no because a true friend would respect my decisions. So there! Can you be called ‘my friend’?

Although far away, I am your friend and you are mine. Not everyone can reach the heights of friendship. They are too consumed with their own misery. All you can do is forgive them. Hugs!!

Thank you T! 🙂
I did the forgiving part many times… I think I’ll go with the “let go” part this time.

So sorry Paola. What can I say? So many people end up disappointing you. That’s why I have very few close friends.

I wouldn’t mine the disappointment if it didn’t hurt so much!! 🙂

I’m so sorry. Boy, can I relate! Some people need their friendship card revoked.

Ouch! I think someone has gotten themselves on your do not call list. It’s so tough when we want that friendship and we invest so much into it hoping to receive some of the joy back. Ultimately, not everyone can do that and we have to decide to shift them down in status or punch the eject button. Either way, minimize your pain.

Hi D!! 🙂
This time it’ll be the eject button. Let’s say that this is a tape that got tangled too many times. The music won’t be the same and it’s not worth my time anymore.
(I’ll be catching up this week. I feel ashamed!! 😀 I hope you are fine, really nice to see you 🙂 )

I’m fine P. After starting back to work, I get up at 4:30 am to get to work and when I get home, by the time I eat diner, I have little time to do anything. So, don’t worry. I’m waaaaay behind myself. But I have been posting a lot of things I thing you will love. So, when you get time, come on over and visit. I’ll do the same. 🙂

I totally agree with you dear. I guess some people changed and there is nothing much we can do about it. So, just stick to those who are real to you! ❤

I hear you. I had to sever ties with a friend 2 years ago, after 32 years of friendship. When I was down, she acted as if she was my friend. As I started to pick myself up, I realised she was not happy about it. She actually preferred for me to stay down, so she could feel better about her life. All we can do, is let them go and move on. Time heals. x

Right! Exactly. 32 years is a long time, but it is what it is. And I am OK with it. I hope you are having a wonderful day. x

32 years is better than 50 🙂
My day is ok, a bit too cold and dark. An autumn preview that I’m not enjoying much! 🙂 I hope yours is warmer!

I’ve had to do this to a few relationships in my life.. oddly, I always end up better off for it.
