Thursday. Yesterday I planned going grocery shopping to Holland with one of the moms from school. She said she was going to pick me up between 9 and 9.30am. I set my alarm clock at 7am to get the kids ready but my youngest son wanted to sleep some more so I thought: “ok, I have plenty of time, I can close my eyes for a few minutes”. Next time I opened them it was 8.50am. Crap. I still had to get dressed, dress my son, bring him to kindergarten and be back before 9am. Yeah right. So I wrote a note saying that my son didn’t want to wake up and that I was going to be back soon. I left at 9am and I was back at 9.17am. I still don’t know how I could do that. And of course, she was waiting for me on the driveway. I hate when people wait for me. And since she was waiting, I couldn’t have breakfast or prepare a list. That’s another thing I don’t like. Going to the stores and not knowing what I need and make the other person wait while I try to remember what to buy.
Very stressful morning.

My son loved his cake. He said it was the most beautiful cake he had. He almost made me cry.

And it tasted good too. I had problems with the icing, of course. It didn’t want to cover the chocolate cake so I had to sprinkle some coconut on top.

My sweet dear friend sent me this video after reading yesterday’s post.
That could happen to you if you park in a disable spot when you are not allowed.
I wish I could translate that for you but I don’t speak Portuguese. Anyway, you don’t need to understand the language to get what’s happening.

  4. That IS a really lovely cake. My mother was a disaster in the kitchen and always wanted to buy our cakes from the grocery store. We never let her- her disasters were still delicious – even an ugly cake tastes good if it’s made with love. This one is so sweet it makes me happy just to look at it!

    • Thank you Jay!!
I can cook but I’m a terrible baker… I think that my failures push my creativity to the limit. I’m always saving the cake (and unlike your mom’s cakes, mine are not always delicious (I tend to forget some ingredients and it’s awful when the sugar is the forgotten one and you see me throwing icing sugar on the slice of cake and humming “Jingle bells” while doing it … No idea why but when the icing sugar falls, I feel like Christmas (and I really don’t like Christmas or Christmas carols… 😀 . (I think it’s a way to torture myself for forgetting the sugar! … And hey, I never said I was normal!!) 😀

  6. Happy birthday to your adorable boy! ❤ This is seriously a beautiful cake. You really should open a bakery sweetie. Although I've never tasted anything you baked, whatever you baked looks incredibly delicious to me. Good job! ❤ 🙂
