Friday. Friday. I’m on the plane on my way to Amsterdam. The flight Buenos Aires – Paris was hell. The person next to me didn’t stink but the freaking plane moved too much. I remember I requested a window seat and I got an aisle seat. I couldn’t sleep because I had to endure big asses way too close to my face and the people pulling my hair every time they went to the bathroom. And that was about the entire time because the plane was a Boeing 777 and according to wikipedia.org: It is the world’s largest twinjet and has a typical seating capacity for 314 to 451 passengers.
I HATE flying. It’s not only terrifying. It’s awful.
Almost one more hour of torture and then 2.5 hours of train.
That I don’t mind, specially if the wifi on the train works.
Yesterday I video called my kids from the airport. My youngest son asked: “Mom, are you coming back to this house?”. Crap. I felt like crying. Poor baby, maybe he thought I abandoned them.
A couple of minutes later when my ex went to another room, my second son got really close to the microphone and said: “It sucks being with daddy”. Holy crap. I could only say: “Tomorrow at this time, I’ll be there”.
I’m smiling, the pilot just said that we’ll start landing in 20 minutes. I can’t wait.
I’m on the train now and wifi is working (that’s how I knew more or less how many passengers were on the plane).
I realized I didn’t take many pictures of my trip so I decided to take a few in the past hours.
That’s me in the bathroom before boarding the first plane. (I washed my hands before taking the picture)
That’s my vegetarian meal
That’s pear liqueur that I decided to drink when the pilot said: “We’ll approach a zone of turbulences soon”. After I got my drink, he said: “We are interrupting the service because of the turbulences”. So glad I got it.
That’s Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, a small part.
I’ll try to relax now. I know that when I get home my vacation will be over.

See? Your kids did miss you 🙂 Maybe that was the best thing about you going away—to hear that 😀 And, you know, if you hadn’t washed your hands before taking that pic, I wouldn’t have looked at it! 😉

How exciting! I miss having the money to travel anywhere except where the city bus will take me 🙂 I hope you had fun…..I remember my flight from LAX to Tahiti got delayed by about 3 hours while we waited for a hurricane to clear our flight path! Imagine if we had taken off……
I am so glad you washed your hands before taking the selfie 😉 And welcome home…..I am sure your kids will be really happy to see you!

I miss having the money too! This time I got the ticket from my parents so I could go and see my grandmother because she wasn’t doing well.
My kids were a bit happy to see me (but they didn’t show it much) 🙂

It is good that you got to see your grandmother. There always seems to be some regret if one doesn’t see an ailing loved one before they pass. I was 2 hours too late in visiting my paternal grandfather in hospice because I couldn’t get it together to leave. I didn’t realize he would pass so quickly; I had only seen him a couple of days before.
Kids will never show how much they are glad to see a parent home safely. That’s just how they are 🙂

That’s sad! I’m sorry you didn’t get there in time.
The doctors said a couple of weeks ago that my grandma had maybe 2 days left. There was no way I was going to get there in time. I said to my mom: “Ask grandma is she’d like to see me”. She did and amazingly, my grandma not only remembered me, she said she wanted to be walking by the time I got there (4 days later). She got so much better than nobody can believe it. I’m super glad I got to see her 🙂

Sorry I have been lax in my reply. I am really glad you got to see your grandma, and I am very happy that she remembered you. My father’s mother did not know who any of us were near the end. Sometimes I think that is the way to go; you don’t know your mind is slipping. You do, however, know if your body is betraying you if you have kept your faculties. I hope that your grandma’s improvement was a permanent thing, and if not, I am glad you saw her before she left this place.
