Friday. I’m heartbroken. I’m mourning the loss of my iPod. It went to an irreversible coma this morning after agonizing for almost two weeks. I did all I could to save it but it wasn’t enough. The power button got stuck a while ago and I followed some instructions on YouTube and I made it work again but it didn’t last. This morning I answered a few e-mails and while I was getting breakfast ready, it went to sleep and it won’t wake up.
I had a long chat with some Apple doctor and he said what I feared. I must take it to an Apple Store and it’ll cost me over 150 euros. I’ll replace my iPod but now I can’t give the old one to my daughter as I planned. Unless I order some replacement button and try an open surgery myself. That’s risky.

I’m very lucky that two days ago I asked my son to help me make a back up. I think that was the first time in my life I made a back up of anything. I know how important it is, I lost many times a lot of work. I cursed a bit, I hated myself for a while and then I had to do all the work again.
And every time when I’m doing things for the second time, I remember the saying that goes more or less like this: “The lazy and the greedy end up walking twice the way”.
That saying is by far one of the best I heard in my life. I read it somewhere years ago and spend some time thinking about how much true it’s behind those words. I could almost apply it to anything.
You are lazy to do something or you are too greedy and don’t put enough effort (or material, or whatever) and the chance is big that your work will be ruined and you’ll have to do it again.
So when grandma told me: “If you do it right, you’ll do it only once”, she was freaking right.

So I could overcome my laziness and make a back up. I’m so glad I did it. Not having regrets feels great.

And IT’S FRIDAY, I’M IN LOVE! And I’m glad I have the back up but I’m devastated because My Baby could die (I’m not sure I’m a good doctor).
I used to love this song when I was a little girl. I have no idea if the writers meant the word “Chiquitita” as a girl’s name. In Spanish it means very, very small (feminine). You have chica (small) chiquita (very small) and chiquitita (very, very small). My name (Paola) means the small one. So I decided that this song is meant for me… At least today. You should have seen my face this morning.
Listen to it always makes me smile. The 70’s were incredible!

Enjoy ABBA!

CHIQUITITA
(written by Benny Andersson, Michael Kunze & BjΓΆrn Ulvaeus)

Chiquitita, tell me what’s wrong
You’re enchained by your own sorrow
In your eyes there is no hope for tomorrow
How I hate to see you like this
There is no way you can deny it
I can see that you’re oh so sad, so quiet

Chiquitita, tell me the truth
I’m a shoulder you can cry on
Your best friend, I’m the one you must rely on
You were always sure of yourself
Now I see you’ve broken a feather
I hope we can patch it up together

Chiquitita, you and I know
How the heartaches come and they go and the scars they’re leaving
You’ll be dancing once again and the pain will end
You will have no time for grieving
Chiquitita, you and I cry
But the sun is still in the sky and shining above you
Let me hear you sing once more like you did before
Sing a new song, Chiquitita
Try once more like you did before
Sing a new song, Chiquitita

So the walls came tumbling down
And your love’s a blown out candle
All is gone and it seems too hard to handle
Chiquitita, tell me the truth
There is no way you can deny it
I see that you’re oh so sad, so quiet.

  1. I can so relate, my pc went down after downloading windows 10 and I just got it back from the shop yesterday. It was traumatic.
