Sunday. July is almost gone. I hate this feeling, I hate it. This is not the best day. Apart from being pissed off that the summer holidays passed so quickly and the stupid school will start in a couple of days, I’m pmsing and I got shingles.
I told my friend Todd yesterday: “I wish I had a gun. A tommy-gun.”
And he replied: “Why not a Bobby-gun? Why’s it always got to be Tommy? What did Tommy do that was so great? Huh? Huh?”

I’m not sure if Tommy did something great.

The tommy-gun owes its name to its inventor John T. Thompson. It was invented in 1918 and, according to wikipedia.org, the Thompson submachine gun (official name) was favored by soldiers, criminals, police, and civilians alike for its large .45 ACP cartridge, accuracy, and high volume of automatic fire.

I couldn’t stop my curiosity so I had to search if a Bobby-gun existed. My search gave me many pictures of a quite famous Canadian boxer called Bobby Gunn.
That’s him.

He’s a retired bare-knuckle boxer. (Bare-knuckling boxing involves two individuals fighting without boxing gloves or other padding on their hands).

I was gladly surprised when among all the Bobby Gunn’s pictures, I found what I was looking for. A bobby-gun! Pretty, right?

What would I do with a gun? My aiming sucks so my idea of shooting cans is always aborted because I’m sure I’ll end up killing the flying birds around. I know it’s hard to believe but trust me, I have a wicked luck.
I think I’d shoot at my living room wall so the holes make my kitchen more luminous. It’s a win win situation.

I believe that I feel this way because of my dad. He didn’t only advice me to watch the movie “Four Brothers”, he also said (I’m quoting): “Bang Bang. A Bollywood movie. It’s a bit long (over 2.5 hours) but it’s a nice love story. It has some fantasy and you’ll get some dancing too”.

Sometimes I wonder if my father:
1) is taking revenge from me moving abroad
2) if he knows me at all
3) if he lost his memory
4) or if he just wants to make fun of me.
Because, why the f#$king f#$k did he tell me to watch that movie? Again, I’m not saying it’s a bad movie, I’m just saying it’s not the kind of movie I like. And he knows it!!
I need have a long talk with him and I’m sure he’ll laugh his ass off.

First, I don’t like musicals. I just don’t like them. I admire people who can dance well or sing. They can keep doing it. I just choose not to watch them.
Second, when he said: “It has some fantasy”, and I know it’s my fault here because he didn’t specify. I don’t know why I expected to be fantasy “love related”, like those things that only happen in movies. I had that for a while but I also had an overdose of the other kinds of fantasy. If I tell you that the movie “Bang Bang” has it ALL, please believe me. Think of jumping off cliffs, explosions, walking on walls, incredible scenery, dance, guns, more guns, cooking, kissing, blood, planes, underwater scenes, guy hanging from high tension cable, motorcycles, guy standing on the roof of a bus in the middle of the highway, guy driving a Formula 1 car and more, much more. Now I’m thinking, I believe it doesn’t have any sex scene.
Third, I don’t particularly enjoy action movies and this movie didn’t give me a break. I remember when I was about 7 or 8 years old and my dad playing “nice father” volunteered to take me and my sister to the movies every other Sunday. You’d expect that he took us to watch some family movie or cartoons but instead of that, he took us to watch freaking James Bond movies and Spaghetti Westerns. Don’t get me wrong, I adore my dad and I’m thankful that he taught me things that most kids at my age ignored completely. Like playing poker or dealing cards like you’d do in a casino. I thought it was normal but once we had a school thing and it was my turn to deal the cards and I could see all of my school friends’ jaws dropping when I was “mixing the cards”. They were impressed. I think I was 14 at the time. What they ignored was that I knew how to do that for many, many years.

You can say my dad is a bit unconventional and the funny part is that he thinks (his words) I’m not normal.

Anyway, even though I got much more shooting this weekend that the last 10 years, I’m super glad I saw that movie. There is a part where the guy and the girl are talking about their dreams and the girl says that “one day” she’ll do this and that, so the guy interrupts her and asks: “How will you know that your “one day” is here?”. She gives a very stupid answer, not answering at all which disappointed me completely because I was eagerly expecting that answer. Ugh… Then a couple of minutes later he goes on and asks: “Don’t you think that your “one day” means never? Today is this, tomorrow is that and the day after, something else. I think that you should do what you want to do, right now. I treat every day as my last so all I have is “one day”.

I liked that part very much, almost as much as when she gets injected some “truth serum” and she can only tell the truth. I wonder sometimes if I also got that injected in me. Honesty can be a curse.

  1. Sounds like a good movie although I’ll probably never convince my kids to watch it. There was a band when I lived in NY that had a song called Tommy Gun. It went: Tommy gun, tommy gun, I’m gonna get my tommy gun and blow you all away. I thought it was quite good.

  2. OK, first: did you ever actually tell us the name of the movie? I don’t remember reading it! Though it doesn’t sound like my kind of movie AT ALL, I’m curious šŸ™‚

I’m really sorry to hear you have the shingles! I’ve heard how painful it can be šŸ˜¦ I’m afraid of that happening to me at some point ’cause they say it’s the same virus as chicken pox which I had pretty bad as a kid. What I have to ask is why that thought came into your head—that you wished you had a gun. Did you want to kill yourself or someone else (not in actuality of course) because you can’t handle the problems or are blaming someone else (therefore a machine gun)? I know you would never hurt anyone if you had a gun. I’m just questioning the thought process, ’cause, although the words are being said more “in jest,” it’s those words that are said seriously by the people who are doing so much harm šŸ˜¦ Is it just the influence of outside forces?

I know that, for me, when I’m inundated by problems, if I wish for anything (other than asking God for strength or sometimes screaming “I can’t take it anymore!”), it might be a wand (which is pure fantasy) or lots of money (which is probably pure fantasy too! lol).

    • The name of the movie is “Bang Bang”. It’s a mix of James Bond, love story, The Matrix and some musical. It has A LOT of action.
I don’t feel like killing anyone, and for sure not myself šŸ™‚ I’m terrified of death because I still have so much to do and to see!
When I’m about to get my period, I’m not balanced and sometimes if I’m very frustrated, I feel like I want to hit someone (or a punching bag šŸ˜€ ). I’m very frustrated right now and anxious and scared. It’s not a good combo and I wish there was something I could do to unload all the crap. Writing helps to some point but I think I need some physical relief (and running is not an option šŸ˜€ ).
The tommy-gun idea came from the movie šŸ™‚

    • Shingles are painful and sometimes they itch so much that’s hard to avoid scratching them (if you do, they spread).
I had chickenpox and it was really mild. A few years after that I was exposed to too much sun and I got shingles for the first time. After that, I got them when I was nervous, when I saw a person who had them (just the sight of it!) or when I used a public phone (several times, even if I put the phone inches away!). It’s awful! šŸ™‚
Maybe the virus will stay dormant and you’ll never get them šŸ™‚
