Saturday. Yesterday we had some time to visit Frankfurt. I had never been there before. It’s a nice city. We wanted to see a few things and luckily, the weather conditions were not that bad. It was cold but I know it could have been much worse.

One of the places we visited was the cathedral or church of Saint Bartholomew. It’s Frankfurt’s main church and it was build in the 14th and 15th century.

I took the picture below from the car (just in case after parking we couldn’t find it anymore).

We found it again at noon and we could hear the bells.

At the moment, some restoration works are taking place so there is a crane close to it and scaffoldings all around. (I didn’t want pictures of that).

I liked that door very much.

The inside of the church is amazing,

There is a big pipe organ.

I love the ceiling and tall columns

All the walls are decorated with paintings, sculptures or engraved wall art(?).

I really like this one with the scene of the Last Supper

It’s a beautiful building.

Tomorrow I’ll post pictures of another church.

  2. It’s amazing seeing the work of old churches—all the detail and hard labor. Stuff you’d never find today. I love seeing these, Paola 🙂
