Friday. I’m tired today. I’m not sure if it’s because I didn’t sleep much, because it’s really cold outside or because my hormones are killing me but I’m about to fall asleep on the keyboard.
A nap sounds really tempting but in a little bit I have to pick up my son from kindergarten. If I fall asleep now, it’ll be like closing my eyes and opening them in 15 minutes. I don’t think there is a way I’ll have the chance to sleep when my kids are here. I really envy those persons who can sleep anywhere, any position and any time.
Every time I hear someone saying: “I could close my eyes and sleep now”, I wonder how that could be.
To sleep, I need to be completely relaxed or extremely tired or pregnant. But the last one, it’s unlikely to happen.
Years ago, I couldn’t sleep if there was light in the room. And I’m not talking about sunlight, I mean any light. The stand by light of the TV, made me crazy. I remember putting a teddy bear in front of it to block it.
That problem lasted until I got my own flat and I didn’t have curtains or blinds or anything. I remember that the first days I went to bed very late with the hope of sleeping through the light but I got up before the roosters. After several days, I was SO tired that I slept until noon and not even the sun on my face woke me.
Now the light doesn’t bother me anymore. Other things bother me.
And IT’S FRIDAY, I’M IN LOVE! And this is what I’d love to be listening right now, while in bed and having my beloved’s arms around me.
Enjoy and sweet dreams
I wish I could sleep so easily too!

I have more and more trouble sleeping as time goes on, and breaking my night owl habits is difficult, but I REALLY must for my health. Too much light bothers me, too, and I know a lot of people like that.
And thanks for such a sweet, innocent, calming song/video because I can tell you, with what went on in this country today, anything calming is good. This is a nightmare come to life and I absolutely cannot stomach the media embracing this creep and his family into the White House to “lead” (destroy) this country. Ugh.

Can I ask please why night owl habits are bad for your health? 🙂 I’m not being personal or nosey but your comment intrigues me, you see I’m a late night candle burner also.

I’m not sure if it’s bad. The bad thing is that we live in a world ruled by morning people

I do find getting up early difficult, BUT Donna is right early to bed early to rise would be more fun and productive.
(Hope you’re keeping well 🙂 )

Hi Andrew, yes, I’m ok 🙂 How are you? I still have to answer your e-mail 😀 I’m sorry I’m taking SO long.
I don’t like mornings, I never had. For me mornings are perfect to sleep, when the birds serenade for me 🙂

Hi Paola thanks for replying and don’t worry about the email. Yes I’m ok but I’m not on WordPress as much as I used to be, however I still read Followed blogs time to time 🙂 Andrew

Hi Andrew 🙂
I hope you are doing fine. I’m about 3 months late reading and a few weeks late replying. I’m not happy about it 😀
I’m waiting for the spring, the darks days are killing me!

Actually, it IS bad for you :-\ When I was younger and first started with health issues like my brain fog I always blamed it on a lack of sleep ’cause that’s what it felt like. What I didn’t know is what was actually happening, so it helped worsen my health over the years in big ways.
When you don’t sleep enough or not at the right time of night, it screws up a LOT of important bodily functions like your circadian rhythms, your hormones like cortisol (your adrenals which become fatigued), leptin/ghrelin (appetite, metabolism), growth hormone (mine was “invisible) which in adults is for repair and growth of cells, and many more critical hormones and functions. The endocrine system is very complex and sleep is critical to good health on so many levels. Sleep produces hormones that aren’t produced at any other time and a lot of repair work goes on in our bodies while we sleep. And if we don’t go to bed early enough (by 10-11pm), our bodies don’t do what they’re supposed to. There’s plenty of info on the net. Here are a couple of articles, some geared toward women, but it pertains to both sexes for the most part:

🙂 thank you Donna the body repairing itself was interesting but as Paola said, late evenings are me time for adults which is unfortunate, I’ll take a look at one or two, thanks.

Actually it was me who said it’s “me” time, but Paola probably agreed! 😀 You can have “me” time in the morning, too, rather than at night. It’s not an easy habit/lifestyle to change, but you actually do accomplish more in the day when you go to bed earlier and rise earlier.

Ah, Andrew, getting UP early is only difficult because you don’t go to bed early 😀

It’s not that personal, Andrew, and I would think you know by now that if it’s too personal, I would say so or just not answer 🙂 Chances are, if I really didn’t want to talk about something, I wouldn’t mention it in the first place 🙂

I think the reason I enquired last evening is because I have epilepsy, I stay up late reading fabulous blogs (haven’t watched tv in years!) And do get tired, not a
good idea is it.

Well, I don’t know details about epilepsy and what they believe the causes are (they don’t know everything, that’s for sure!), but there is no separating whatever processes go on in your body since everything is connected or reliant upon other things. For sure, proper sleep on a regular basis is critical and somehow I have GOT to get a handle on it. If you can, too, it would be good. It’s important for everyone. What I need to get back to (I did it briefly and it DID affect me positively) is flipping my sleep. Go to bed earlier, awake earlier and enjoy the quiet time on the flip side. It’s just as wonderful, but in a different way. There’s something about watching a day wake up 🙂

I’m sorry about that, Donna…
I still wish this word was made for the night people like us! 🙂

It’s the quiet and the “me” time of the night that I love the most, but I REALLY do need to start getting that “me/quiet” time on the opposite end of the day. If could fall asleep at 10 or 11pm and wake up at 5 or 6 and feel refreshed, I’d be happy. It’s just SO hard to break the lifelong habit when there will never be enough hours in the day *sigh*
