Tuesday. I have to do so many things today that I’m already tired thinking about it.
The owner of the house came yesterday with the roof guy. Not my roof guy, just the owner of the company. I was quite disappointed.
Not only that, he decided he’s calling another company to check the window so he can compare prices and decide what’s best.
That really sucks because it means that he’ll come again soon and I’ll be stressing again cleaning and keeping the house clean. Probably that’s a normal thing for most people but it’s not for me.
I’m a mess and I have 5 kids who got the “messy genes” too. None of them got my mother’s genes. That would have been great. I can only dream of having one child who loves tiding up closets and who always carries a cloth in the pocket just in case something needs dusting… You probably think I’m exaggerating and that’s because you don’t know my mom.
When she was 4 years old, one of her hobbies was to tidy up her family’s drawers. All the garments sorted by color. Everything perfectly folded.
When I say that if you visited my house you’d never guess three kids lived there, it’s absolutely true. Her house always looks like a museum.
Some weeks ago I called her and she said: “We had an inspection yesterday at the factory. Do you remember we cut the bandage rolls for a lab? Someone complained that there were dirty bandages so all the factories that cut bandages for them got an inspection”.
She was waiting for me to ask “how did it go?” so I asked, even though I already knew the answer.
“So… how did it go?”
“The inspector said that this factory is cleaner than the lab”.
“I wouldn’t have imagined it any other way”.
And here I am already stressing for the future because I know there is only one way the house stays as clean as it is now and that is if my kids and I go to stay somewhere else.
Or if my mother visits but that’s not going to happen any time soon because she’s still taking care of my grandmother.
So I did what any other sensitive person would do in my situation. I bought a lottery ticket. Maybe I win a nice price and I can finally afford the three butlers I always dreamed of having.
Just let me dream.
Wow, taking neat freak to a whole new level!

I’m with you on the butler’s. I was supposed to have a friend visiting this week and was very disappointed when he said he couldn’t make it. I had no motivation to clean after that.

Well, my mother has always actually enjoyed housekeeping. She was a born homemaker and I always considered her a bit fanatical, but your mother has mine beat as far as keeping a rag in her pocket in case something needs dusting. That’s REALLY O.C.D.! lol
And I know you don’t want to hear this, but if your house was tidier, you wouldn’t feel as overwhelmed. Clutter not only gives you more to do, but makes you constantly feel like there’s so much to do :-\

I agree if I get home and there’s unwashed plates and pans on a unit, that can be overwhelming, first I have to wash up even before attempting to cook, two tasks instead of one! My Grandmas’s house and shed were similar to a show home.

I feel really sad when I need to use a pan and it’s dirty. I HATE washing dishes š

š You did make me laugh Donna, I believe neatness is an art, very different to keeping a house clean š and alas I’m not a talented artist! WordPress can be a joy sometimes, until I took part in this comment thread I’d completely forgotten my Grandmother tidied the inside of her shed just like an extra room, spades lined in rows, not a speck of soil to be seen, all coated in a film of oil and that’s only the beginning!!! A long forgotten memory TY š

Donna after a replying back and forth, I got to thinking about neatness and wrote a post for you, call it nothing more than a curiosity minus personal detail of course.

Andrew, did you check that the last post appeared on top? The other day there was an older post on the home page but I was sure I had seen a newer one on the reader so I look for it š

I stopped collecting “dust collectors” long ago. I only keep a few candles and candle holders. No more decorative stuff that makes me crazy š
You have no idea how much I miss my mom sometimes š

Yep, dust collectors need to be behind glass, if you have them š The clutter I was talking about is all the stuff that’s left around, typically not where it belongs—mess—clothes, toys, glasses and dishes, and the list goes on. When things aren’t relatively neat, it makes you feel more “heavy” and overwhelmed š¦

Then, I’m full of clutter! š
(But I’ll do my best. I’m sad it doesn’t really show š )
