Wednesday. Last day of school. I made it. I’m about to fall asleep on the keyboard. I’m very tired today. I couldn’t wake up this morning, I wish I could go back to bed but that won’t happen until this evening.
The weather forecast promised me sun and 25ºC/77ºF, and once again I feel cheated. It’s cloudy and cold and it won’t get any warmer the next 10 days. I’m starting to feel that the summer is already over. That means that the freaking winter will be even longer than last year. I hope I’m wrong. I miss having freckles all over.
I’m sorry I’m so behind reading your blogs. I will catch up soon. I really didn’t find the time to do it yet and I don’t like it.
Yesterday I made a list with the things I want to do while the kids stay with the man. I hope I manage to do everything, that’ll make me feel really good. My plans consist mostly in fixing the house, painting and getting rid of crap. The kind of crap that you keep because it has some sentimental value (or because you are a hoarder and think that one day you probably will need it).
I have for sure in each room, at least one bag or box with those kind of things. I think one day I’ll drink half bottle of wine and empty all the bags in the garbage container. My mom is right, all that crap takes too much space in your head and doesn’t add any value to your life.

Sometimes it is hard to let go, though.

I try to keep on top of things and get rid of what I don’t need but it always seems to get away from me. Since I’ve had kids, we have moved often and that always makes you deal with getting rid of useless crap but I think we’re happy where we are, which is good but, yikes, the crap is piling up!!

My husband is a bit of a hoarder. I had a friend who lived in NYC when I lived in Brooklyn and she moved away and sublet me her apartment. When I moved in, she left a lot of her stuff and said, ‘whatever you don’t want, just throw out’. I just thought that was a wonderful attitude and it taught me a lot about not being materialistic or putting too much sentimental value into ‘things’.

It’s great that some people manage to feel that way. I can’t, I keep napkins from special dinners, dry flowers, little stones…
Some days I just don’t care and throw everything away, but by the next time that happens, I already accumulated a ton of things 😀

Do you have a place nearby like Goodwill or Salvation Army where you could leave the bags off? It might be useful to someone and, at least, it gives their workers a job. Also, my husband got a $134 for a bunch of wire he took to a recycler.
Don’t worry about getting to my blog. Lately it is paranoid politics. I just enjoy your glimpses of life.

Thank you! 🙂
There are many places collecting clothes for the Red Cross… But the kind of crap that I accumulate it doesn’t fit in the “useful things” department 🙂
(Should I start collecting wires now?? :D)

It crosses my mind whenever a charger cable breaks or a string of Christmas lights go out. Copper is really expensive right now!

I agree with you sweetie. Sometimes it’s hard to get rid of things that have sentimental values 😦 I guess we are only human and those sentimental values somehow triggers our emotional feelings.
